Prefixes

Unlike suffixes, prefixes do not alter the part of speech of a word.
Instead, they give the word a different, but related, meaning.
Prefixes: -re and -pre
Prefix -re before a verb often, but not always, means to do something again. A number of these can refer to making improvements in a property.

Prefix -pre usually means before, when attached to a verb. There are hundred of words with these prefixes : these are some of the most common. Remember, you don’t need to learn all these words – just recognize the ‘again’ and ‘before’ function
